After Rita Lee left Mutantes, Arnaldo, Sergio, Dinho and Liminha recorded a new album in 1973 unknown to the public until 1992. O A E O Z exacerbates the surrealist-progressive opera Mutantes e Seus Cometas no País dos Baurets. Although independents, its six tracks remind a long soundtrack for a movie the kind of Atonioni’s Zabriskie Point. It is a trip, a good trip. From the autobiographic (by Arnaldo Baptista) ‘Rolling Stones’ to ‘Uma Pessoa So’ (One Only-Lonely Person, which would be re-edited in 1973 in his solo Loki?), O A E O Z sounds, as the title suggests, the last breath of the wonderful history of Mutantes. After a while, Arnaldo would leave the group and Sergio, Dinho and Liminha would carry on with the new Mutantes. But this is another history, another mutation and another trip. (Marcelo Dolabela.
